Earlier today I was doing some reading for my day job and came across a thought provoking post on the Defense Update site that I wanted to share. Most of the world is watching carefully the developments in the Middle East and the
press is excitedly reporting what looks at first glance like the stirrings of a popular democratic movement. The writer, David Eshel, points out that conspicuously absent from the coverage of these events is any critical analysis of whom or what is driving this activity. He points out that it is rare for these kinds of events to be truly spontaneous and there has been very little discussion about the leaders who were the catalyst for the demonstrations.
